Pole Power Fitness was founded by me - Charlotte Adams, back in 2013. After moving to Phoenix from the UK, I wanted to share my passion for pole with anyone and everyone who was willing to try. So, I took my poles and set them up in a gym or two and taught a couple of classes a week. Fast-forward to the summer of 2016 and I was able to open up my very own pole studio, which I am excited to share with you all.
My goal is to make fitness fun for everyone regardless of your shape or size and that is what I love about pole fitness. Pole fitness really is for everyone, especially if you like that feeling of flying around with the wind rushing through your hair! Pole fitness is about having fun and feeling good about yourself! Toned abs, biceps and the ability to carry a weeks worth of food shopping from the car to the house in one trip is just an added bonus!
My Pole Journey
I came to discover pole dancing/pole fitness in 2010 when in training for a trek up Mount Kilimanjaro in aid of the Alzheimer's Society UK. A friend and I decided that a pole class would be a good giggle and a nice supplement to my training besides walking. We booked our first class and off we went.... We were both quite nervous as we had no previous dance or gymnastics experience, nor did we have any idea what to expect. When we arrived at the pole studio we erupted into nervous laughter. The hour long class came and went in a blink of an eye and I thoroughly enjoyed laughing at my friend, and at myself, as we helplessly slid up and down the pole with about as much grace as a tap-dancing rhino. I enjoyed our ridiculous attempts at trying to be graceful-meets-sexy, but pole was not for me. It wasn't long (a week) before my friend twisted my weak arms and I was at my next pole class. My second attempt at pole was somewhat better than the first and my body recognized what we were doing, so it was a little more compliant with my movement requests. And then like magic I landed my first pole trick (for anyone who is wondering it was an "attitude spin") and just like that I was hooked! A few weeks later I bought my own pole and set it up in my attic. I would spend countless hours practicing everything I had learned in class and it wasn't long before my instructor asked me to teach beginner classes a couple of times a week. This is where I found my love for pole and for teaching.
Since my first pole class I have continued my pole and fitness education and have obtained a Personal Trainer Certification and I am also a Certified XPERT Pole & Aerial Fitness Trainer.
My pole journey doesn't end there, it is still ongoing and I imagine it always will be. The pole industry is continuously growing and more and more pole moves are being created, meaning there is still so much to learn. I attend pole workshops wherever possible and take private lessons with some of the industries best polers to bring you the most up-to-date pole tricks and techniques. One of my pole goals is to one day compete professionally.
Mandi's Pole Journey
I love pole fitness because it is a challenging and super fun workout. I love all things dance and have been dancing for 16 years. I studied ballet and jazz mostly, but fell in love with pole the instant I tried it. I was also a competitive cheerleader, so I am very comfortable with spotting and helping people try new pole tricks. I have been doing pole for about 3 and a half years and can't wait to keep improving and do more!
Michelle's Pole Journey
My eyes opened to the world of pole when, on a whim, I took a class that I found on Groupon and immediately got hooked. I've only been doing pole fitness since the beginning of 2016 but I danced all throughout my younger years. I enjoy being able to get a great workout in and mastering new tricks. It is such a hoot to teach and I get so excited to see everyone progress.
